According to the definition given by Larousse, this application consists in the use of wastes as row materials.
According to the law:
- The valorisation has to be applied at the maximum in the present economical and technical conditions
- The final wastes have to be solidified/stabilized before their admission in class 1 dumps.
Other possibilities are available:
- flagstone manufacturing
- use as abrasive
- making of jewellery and other objets d`art.
In most cases these two means are not related: a final processed waste remains potentially toxic and has to be stocked rigorously.
In the vitrification case an alternative is possible when a safety scientific proof is made.
