Textural properties of glass

The glass is a homogenous solid or isotropic material which develop specific textural properties.

  • as an example if during melting some compounds are allowed to thermally decompose. Thus bubbles are created and a foam glass with close porosity is prepared. Porous glasses can also be prepared by a gentle sintering of glass particules.
  • as phase transformation, crystallisation or demixion consequently induced in the material regions with different composition are obtained.
