A report :

Every French people gets out more than 1 kilogram of household waste per day on average:

• 50% of these wastes are designed for dumping
• 40% are incinerated.

In Languedoc-Roussillon region 93% of the specific industrial wastes are stored on their production's location because of a lack of other solutions.

An obligation:

According to the law, since 1st of June 2002 :

• only the centers for final wastes' dumping are authorized in France
• only the final wastes or in other words " those resulting or not from the processing of waste and no more likely to be be processed in the present technical and economical conditions, such as the extraction of their polluting or dangerous nature" are authorized in these dumpings.

Actually, the application deadlines differ according to the regions.

In the case of Montpellier and its suburbs a methanisation of the fermentable share has been chosen. It concerns only 28% of household rubbish and needs an efficient and preliminary selection.
