Structural characterization of materials

It is important to underline that the structural analysis of glass often allows to better understand their macroscopic behaviour.

The standard set up allowing to crystal oxides are also used for glasses.

  • infrared spectroscopy, UV-visible and Raman
  • the X-rays diffraction, which explores the order of the atomic scale, is very useful to study the crystallization (devitrification) of specific glasses. This technique associated with electron microscopy analysis allows the identification of crystallized phases and refer them to the Powder Diffraction File.

We collaborate with other laboratories in order to perform NMR, ERP or SASX experiments.
